Happy Campers

Thanks to everyone who answered the urgent call for chaperones, I am glad to say that our bases are covered for Camp Common Ground! Ms. Pierpont and I worked out the cabin assignments and we're good to go. Students will need to bring in $35 (checks made out to menot the PTO!) to cover meals, as was the case last year. We will be finalizing the menu on Tuesday of next week. I will assume that students who bring money in have also been granted permission to attend, so a formal permission slip will not go home. If they money presents a hardship, please let me know. We will be sending a letter home to help the kids pack appropriately as we get closer to the trip. CCG has some guidelines about what can be brought that need to be adhered to, but nothing is too far out.

The sixth graders' yearbook project is proving to be a giant but valuable undertaking, especially with the limited time and resources we have to complete it! There is still time to buy an ad for your business or in support of your student and these checks should be made out to the MCS PTO (not me!). Pre-orders are being accepted now as well and we are going to try to make an order that doesn't leave us with an outrageous number of extras, so if your K-5 student would like a yearbook, please fill out the form in the MCS newsletter and return it to me a.s.a.p. A couple Gagner Gang members still need to send in a baby picture. Email me if you might be one and I will confirm whether we have one or not.

The deadline for yearbook ads and sixth grade baby pictures is Friday, May 22nd! Late submissions cannot be guaranteed a spot as layout has already begun. Stop what you're doing right now and buy. that. ad!

A handful of intrepid makers applied to go on the Dynamic Landscapes trip with me on Friday. We will be out of school for the morning and returning after lunch (in time for Genius Hour, conveniently!). Families of those students have been informed of the schedule in an email from me and need to reply to grant permission for this trip. The delegation is collecting materials now to bring with us, so if you have any fun things to tinker with, please send them in!

We found out earlier this week that getting caught in the rain on your morning walk is part of life. It reminded me to remind students to have a change of clothes at school for this and other emergencies.

Here is a letter from Mount Abe for parents of students transitioning next year. Also note: 7th grade meet the teams nights is on May 27th. The 9th grade event is also on this date; the 7th grade event will start at 6:45pm and 9th grade is scheduled to start at 6:30pm.
